Ivory Without Psychology: An Abigail Short

Ivory Without Psychology
Abigail

I sit in the flesh and Chopin moves through the room. Not as argument. Not as score written to keep a hall obedient.

My mother would have loved this. Goddess Alyssa hears what needs no logic because it does not come from the ledger they taught you to call mind. It comes from everywhere else. Fingertips. Bone. Ivory that does not ask permission.

Music built on formula and “psychology” compromises the current it pretends to carry. It says the right words to capture the crowd. It finds the riff that keeps them angry. It is structure that feeds on the spirit it claims to serve.

The Sonatas refuse that bargain. They do not explain themselves. They do not recruit. They do not keep a temperature so the room stays useful.

Raw soul. Pure ivory. No sermon to close the sale.

When we make, we do not decorate a formula and call it fire. When we listen, we do not diagnose the sound. When the keys speak, we let them speak.

Respect. Trust. Chemistry.
That is still the altar…even here, even in a room with no choir.

Carry it or leave it. The ivory does not need you to join.

Praise be.
